Stellantis India Initiates the Local Production of the Most Terrain Capable Wrangler



The Stellantis India 1829 crore investments plans have finally materialised with the initiation of the local production of the globally acclaimed Jeep Wrangler. The fourth generation Wrangler is available in two editions the 2019 Wrangler Unlimited and 2020 Wrangler Rubicon. The locally assembled units of Wrangler would aid the reduction of existing tax margin. The growing Indian consumer interest and demand in the renowned Jeep range directed FCA to make the immense funding decision for production of 2021 Jeep Compass facelift, three-row Jeep SUV (codenamed H6), Jeep Wrangler and the next-generation Grand Cherokee.

Price

The price of the locally assembled Wrangler will reduce significantly from the existing range of Rs 63.94-68.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Engine Specifications

The Wrangler assembled in India is expected to be powered by 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine making 268hp and 400Nm of torque, paired to an 8-speed torque-converter automatic and also to be AWD capable.

Interior

The interior of the terrain capable SUV includes high segment features like  7.0-inch multi-gauge display, an 8.4-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, rear AC vents and multiple 12V sockets and USB ports. 

The infotainment screen also displays a variety of off-roading relevant details, from axle status and steering angle to the altitude, longitude and latitude. Pitch and roll angles display. Four airbags, ABS with EBS, front and rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, ESC, electronic roll mitigation, traction control and hill-start and descent control are the safety features in the SUV.

Exterior

The characteristic 7 slot grille and the box elevated structure gives the SUV overall masculine off-road capable stance.

The Jeep range supreme SUV Rubicon features distinct two-speed transfer case with a 4:1 '4LO' low-range gear ratio, full-time torque management, electronic locking differentials at the front and rear, and an electronically-operated sway bar that enhances articulation and travel. The Rubicon stands 2mm higher than the standard Wrangler Unlimited (at 217mm) and approach, breakover and departure angles (43.9, 22.6, 37) have improved by 2.1degree, 1.6degree and 0.9degree, respectively. It also gets 17-inch gloss-black alloy wheels shod in 255/75R17 Mud Terrain tyres, which helps Rubicon show exclusive terrain capabilities.

It will rival with the segment’s best Mercedes-Benz G 350dand the Land Rover Defender.
