Mahindra Scorpio New S3 Plus Variant Powered By 2.2L mHawk Diesel Relaunched

Mahindra mid- size SUV Scorpio is one among the top 5 best-selling SUV’s in India. Mahindra long known for manufacturing highly efficient and powerful pick-up vehicles. However, since 2002 Mahindra introduced the terrain capable SUV Scorpio in the automobile industry which were inbuilt to have tough structural frame and powerful engine capability. Until 2016 the Scorpio was available with three engine options and with the advent of the BS6 norms Mahindra launched the facelift Scorpio 2020 only with BS6 compliant 2.2L Turbocharged diesel engine. The 2021 Scorpio new Variant S3 Plus has been launched with the same engine but slightly lower state of tune to attract lifestyle users who enjoy handling SUV but prefer slightly lower power and torque punch.

Price 

The ex-showroom price of the new S3 Plus variant of Scorpio is Rs 11.70 Lakh.

The ex-showroom price of other variants S5,S7,S9,S11 range from Rs 12.22-16.00 Lakh.

Engine Specifications

The S3 Plus is powered byBS6 compliant  2.2L mHawk Turbocharged 4 cylinder DOHC engine which delivers 119bhp power and 280Nm Torque. It configured to have RWD drivetrain.

The other variants are powered by same 2.2L turbo diesel engine but tuned to offer higher power capability i.e. about 137bhp and 319Nm Torque. 

Transmission

The base S3 Variant just launched is offered in manual 5-speed transmission while the other variants are offered in 6-speed manual transmission.

Mileage

The mileage offered by all variants are 15kmpl.

Dimension 

The dimensions of Mahindra Scorpio are 4456mm length and 1820mm width and 1995mm height. The wheelbase offered is 2680mm and the bootspace is 460L.

Interior Features

The fresh addition S3 Plus will miss out on a few features like central locking, auto door lock, one-touch lane change indicator, bottle holders, footsteps on the sides & rear, upholstery of the seat and rear demister. It will be offered in 7,8 and 9 seating models. It would majorly include the same features as the S5 with dual front airbags, ABS & EBD, micro-hybrid tech, tilt steering, power windows, front-charging port, unpainted bumpers, silver steel rims, LED taillamps and many other base segment standard features.

Exterior features

The new S3+ base variant has been equipped with features such as black grille inserts, 17-inch steel wheels with wheel caps, tilt-adjust steering, fabric upholstery, HVAV, power outlets in the first and second rows, rear parking sensors, side intrusion beams, dual airbags and ABS.

The base variant S3 Plus designed in very lucrative bracket of the mid-size SUV segment set to compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
