BMW launched the mid-sized luxury SUV X3 in India back in 2018. The Sport BMW X series built on CLAR (Cluster Architecture platform) platform support incorporation of hybrid assembly, strong structural built and all wheel drive system. The SUV X3 series is equipped with immense on road and off-road capabilities. The locally assembled BMW X3 only had one diesel (20d luxury line) and one petrol variant (30i luxury line).The 2021 addition to the portfolio BMW X3 xDrive30i SportX comes equipped with intelligent all-wheel-drive system that monitors the driving situation constantly and distributes the engine's power between the front and rear axle as per the driving behavior, terrain and traction.

The ex-showroom price of BMW X3 xDrive30i SportX stands at Rs 56.50 Lakh.

Engine Specifications

The Sport SUV is powered by 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol that put delivers 252hp and 350Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and power is sent to all four wheels via BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system. BMW claims that the X3, ingeniously configured to the smart AWD system, can race 0-100kph in 6.3sec.

BMW also offers the X3 with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine in the xDrive20d Luxury Line variant.

The xDrive30i SportX comes pretty well equipped as expected. It gets an 8.8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 5.7-inch MID display, three-zone automatic climate control, LED headlight, tail-lights and fog lights, automatic headlights and wipers, a panoramic sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels and much more.

However, as it’s the base-level model, there are a few things the new SportX trim does not include when compared to the top-spec Luxury Line, which gets equipment like adaptive LED headlights, dynamic damper control, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, wireless charging, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system and larger 19-inch wheels, to name a few.

Safety Features

The German Automaker has provisioned the Sport X with advanced drive assist elements that would enable the driver to explore the thrill of driving extremities with aid of advanced assemblies like the adaptive suspensions, electronically controlled 'Automatic Differential Brakes/locks (ADB-X)', extended Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), hill start assist and hill descent control helps to negotiate different terrains, the company said.

The X3 xDrive30i SportX standard safety features, include six airbags, attentiveness assistance, dynamic stability control (DSC) including cornering brake control (CBC), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, ISOFIX child seat mounting and integrated emergency spare wheel under the load floor.

The BMW X3 competes with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC, the Land Rover Discovery Sport and the Volvo XC60 in the Indian auto industry.
