The Chinese automaker SIAC owned British Automotive marque Morris Garages has come long way in India since its launch in 2019. The successful launch of the trending segment Premium SUV models MG Hector, MG Hector Plus, MG ZS EV, MG Gloster have shown rising consumer acceptance. The MG Hector is available in 5-seater and 6-seater variants. The latest sales record shows that MG India received highest bookings for MG Hector last month. The Indian auto industry also looks forward with high anticipation for the Upcoming 7-seater SUV variant of MG hector.
Price
The ex-showroom price is expected to be Rs 14-18 Lakh.
Engine
The performance based powerful engines in the present Hector variants are expected to be shared in the 7-seater model. The 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine sourced by SIAC and a 2.0-liter turbo diesel sourced by FCA(Fiat Group) . The 1.5-liter turbo-petrol in the MG Hector is going to produce 143bhp of power along with 250Nm of peak torque. The Diesel powertrain is expected to deliver 168hp power and 350Nm Torque. The 1.5 L Turbocharged Petrol engine is combined with 48V hybrid assembly which enhances the torque offered by 20Nm when Engine Auto Start-Stop, Regenerative Braking and E-Boost assistance is required. The present model offers mileage of 14-17kmpl.
Transmission
The Transmission assembly of present model is mated with the 1.5L turbo petrol is 6-speed manual and DCT automatic transmission whereas 2L diesel engine is combined with 6-speed manual transmission.
Interior
The Interior of the 7-seater will be same as the present 5 seater. It will be equipped with Panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a digital instrument console and features like lane assist, park assist will be provided in the top variant. The interiors will be of light colour and will give a sense of additional space. To add to all this the vehicle will get ambient lighting. This will be only in the top variant of the seven-seater.
I-Smart technology on the car, this gets a large 10.4-inch touchscreen that acts as the center console of the car which will also get tech connectivity features like eSIM which is in collaboration with Airtel. The car gets OTA (Over The Air) technology and updates and the OS, experience, apps and interface of this system is developed by MG India in collaboration with companies like Airtel, Cisco, Adobe, AccuWeather Microsoft, SAP and many more.
Exterior
The dominant exterior of MG Hector is made bulkier in the 7 seater. It also gets 17-inch alloy wheels. This model will also get a DRLs which will turn into indicators like the Harrier. The DRL will be an individual unit, separate from the main headlight cluster. The front grill will be same as one on Hector 5 seater.
Safety
Electronic Stability Program improves the car’s stability by detecting and reducing lack of traction. MG Hector is engineered to deliver the best driving experience. Traction Control System helps avoiding the wheel-slip, and keeps the car under control during slip or skid. The Hill Hold Control, ABS-EBD, Brake Assist system to detect when the driver attempts an emergency stop. The MG Hector uses rolled form door beams which improve strength and rigidity for doors as compared to flat stamped beams. They have larger cross-section area which makes the door stronger and safer to withstand impact.
MG Hector has been successful SUV model in India. The performance based engine configuration, smooth transmission technology, advanced interior and safety features all embodied in the premium SUV will enable the 7-seater to continue the legacy.
